Singapore, 2 September 2014 – Award winning Singapore-based producer Beach House Pictures (BHP) has announced two strategic appointments to its management team as it doubles the size of its facilities and expands operations in Asia.
Veteran network executive Jim Ribbans has been appointed Head of Business Development and will be responsible for developing new regional and international business partnerships across all of BHP’s content divisions: Beach House Pictures, Beach House Kids, Beach House Entertainment and Beach House Studios. This also includes subsidiary Beach House Pictures Taiwan.
Jim has more than 18 years experience in television and has produced and executive produced a wide variety of content genres including LIVE sports, game shows, travel, factual and branded entertainment. Following three years at UK’s BskyB, he moved to Singapore in 1999 to join ESPN Star Sports (now Fox Sports). As head of ESPN’s Original Content, Special Projects and Sales Integration, Jim oversaw the creation and production of bespoke content for a raft of blue-chip advertisers, including Carlsberg, Samsung, Singtel, Castrol, HTC, Shell and Kia Motors. Brand-funded series Freedom Riders Asia, which Jim executive produced, won Best Cross Platform at the 2013 Asian Television Awards.
Alongside Jim, is creative dynamo Marc Checkley who joins BHP as Senior Development Producer. Marc will be responsible for creating and producing original content and developing creative partnerships for Beach House Kids and newly formed Beach House Entertainment.
Marc has worked in content production, development and editorial/media consultancy for more than 12 years and worked with various regional broadcasters including A+E Networks Asia, Fox International Channels, Yahoo! and TVNZ. Prior to moving to Singapore in 2009, he was in Beijing producing and co-anchoring the online Olympic Channel for The China Daily. Other recent credits include executive producing the Driving Change with Caltex Special (Star World) and E! News Asia (NBC Universal Asia). He also developed, co-directed/produced the 14-part food/lifestyle series The Food Detectives (MediaCorp).
In Kids TV, Marc has produced, performed and directed on a variety of productions, including Food Files, The Tritans (MediaCorp) and Jindiana Zones, an animated/live-action science adventure series for LeadTV.
