Singapore, March 29th 2018 – Beach House Pictures, a Blue Ant Media production company and one of Asia’s largest indies, announced today that it has entered into a partnership with CCTV9, which will see the two parties co-producing a new five-part docu-series, Art of Craft (5×60 HD). Supported by Singapore’s Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA), the series will be Singapore’s first co-production with CCTV9, China’s national channel on factual programming. Currently in production, Art of Craft will land on CCTV9 later this year and is available for pre-buy at MIPTV 2018 via Blue Ant International.
Art of Craft (5×60 HD) explores the compelling human stories behind the world’s leading master craftsmen; a 23rd generation Venetian glass blower, an Indian Saree maker, an organ master from Montreal, a Chinese Master embroider who continues a centuries old technique, a family of violin makers who hold the secrets of the alchemy of wood and sound. These are objects made for all mankind, from emperors to farmers. Art of Craft seeks out the authenticity, passion and unusual skill of these modern-day artists, following their pursuit of perfection. Interwoven with spectacular visuals of the artists’ intricate processes and intimate interviews, audiences are taken on a moving journey as they learn the backstories of these inspiring creators.
“We conserve buildings, wildlife and the environment, but how much is really being done to conserve the heritage of craftsmanship and where is it headed?” said Donovan Chan, Executive Producer for Art of Craft and Creative Director, Beach House Pictures, “Art of Craft will be Singapore’s first co-production with CCTV9, taking viewers on a cinematic journey into the inspiring lives and brilliant minds of the planet’s top craftsmen while celebrating their work.”
“CCTV is China’s largest and most influential broadcaster and the market’s largest and only documentary channel. We are happy and excited to be part of this co-production with Blue Ant Media and Beach House Pictures, which is a first for us,” said Tian Yuan, Head of International Acquisitions & Co-Production, CCTV. “China has a very long history of craftsmanship and it is a large part of Chinese culture. This co-production will be a showcase for such artistry, creating a bridge between Chinese artisans and others around the world.”

It is a recognition of the quality and work of Singapore-based talent and companies. IMDA is proud to support this regional partnership.”
